David Gray has focused on all aspects of dispute resolution and risk management for a wide spectrum of commercial organisations during over 30 years with the firm, acting for plcs and larger limited liability companies, as both claimant and defendant, focusing on a broad range of manufacturing clients.  He was head of one of the largest, strongest and broadest dispute resolution practices in the UK for over 15 years and has presided over a period of unprecedented growth and success.

David has managed many large multi-disciplinary teams in high-value, complex claims, often of a multi-party nature. He has also handled many breach of confidentiality and mis-use of confidential information claims. In addition, David has worked with a number of household name clients on national and international product recalls. He has a wealth of experience of ADR (having actively promoted this since its arrival in the UK in c 1990 when DLA Piper was a co-founder of CEDR), arbitration and higher court litigation.

He has actively promoted the use of alternative and innovative methods of charging for and the funding of disputes (cultivating relationships with a range of third party funders) for a considerable period of time, developing transparent risk-sharing schemes. He has driven the use of conditional fee arrangements (CFAs) in commercial claims for both claimants and defendants on occasions presented as fixed-fee packages. He is at the forefront of the firm's engagement with third party suppliers in the conduct of litigation, in particular legal process outsourcing providers (LPOs).
