Matteo Ronchi is a litigator, with over 15 years' experience assisting international clients in commercial disputes. 

He is specialised in civil law and company law litigation and he assists Italian and foreign clients in judicial claims and in arbitration proceedings.  

His skills range from litigation and arbitration regarding company acquisitions and corporate disputes to proceedings regarding real estate and private equity investments. 

Matteo has a strong background in corporate matters and focuses on key details of the disputes he manages.

EXPERIENCE

  • He successfully assisted a multinational producer of kitchenware in an international post M&A arbitration for the recovery of damages in relation to the rotation and value of the inventory sold.
  • He assisted a private equity investor in an international post M&A arbitration for the payment of the deferred consideration of a retail company.
  • He successfully assisted the minority shareholder of a gas and oil company in a dispute for the annulment of two resolutions of capital increase which were directed to dilute the minority share.  He got the suspension of the resolutions and then won the arbitration with definitive annulment of the resolutions. 
  • He assisted a global group in an ICC International arbitration relevant to the breach of contract and renegotiation duties in relation to TLC contracts (fiber conducts use).
  • He successfully assisted an oil and gas company  in an urgency matter for the delivery of products directed to Russia which were blocked in Ukraine for the refusal of a local subcarrier to complete the transportation.  
  • He successfully assisted a real estate company in shareholder dispute before arbitral tribunal and ordinary courts dealing with matters such as evaluation of the assets, shamed contracts, annulment of resolutions and company financial statements.
  • He successfully assisted a bio-gas producer in a dispute for the renegotiation of the debts towards the producer of the plants.
  • He assisted a company listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange active in the sector of “aerospace” in a shareholders dispute in connection with a dead lock situation. He also successfully assisted the Company in interim proceedings in Italy and Netherlands for the removal of directors.
  • He successfully assisted an international producer and provider of plastic material solutions in a dispute relevant to the exercise  of a purchase's option of plants located in Italy and to the relevant price assessment. 
  • He successfully assisted a real estate company in the interim proceedings for the inhibition of payment of a first demand guarantee in relation to a real estate preliminary contract.

Scientific Activity

He works as assistant in civil law and comparative law at University of Milan "Luigi Bocconi".

He has been professor of comparative contract law at the University Castellanza "LIUCC" and of private law and of tourism legislation at the University of Piemonte Orientale.

He has been speaker in international congress and visiting professor in Comparative Company Law  at University of Wien and of Vilnius.

He has been also a member of many comparative law research projects.
