In celebration of International Women's Day, DLA Piper invites you to a breakfast event in Edinburgh on 6 March to discuss the role of unconscious bias in creating imbalances in the workplace.
This year's International Women's Day theme is #BalanceforBetter, highlighting the fact that diversity is not a women's issue, it is critical for business success. This year, we will widen our conversation in recognition of the fact that a truly balanced workforce addresses not just gender balance, but also a balance across other diversity strands such as LGBT+ and BAME.
Our panel from across the business spectrum will discuss unconscious bias, both in terms of biases we have all witnessed but also by encouraging our panel and attendees to explore their own potential biases that may have gone unnoticed. Our diverse presenting panel, selected to represent a variety of these diversity strands, will share their own experiences, best practices and successes. They will also discuss changes that they feel still need to be made.
Our expert panel is made up of the following speakers:
- Claire Watt, HR Business Partner, Inclusion & Diversity/Support Functions, Heineken UK
- Karen Flynn-MacFarlane, Inclusion manager, Royal Bank of Scotland
- Rob Marrs, Head of Education, Law Society of Scotland
- Chaired by: Pennie Taylor, Freelance Journalist and Broadcaster
This event is complimentary and open to everyone.
