DLA Piper continues to expand its Tax practice with partner hire in Austria

DLA Piper is continuing to expand its leading international Tax practice with the hire of Dimitar Hristov, who will be leading the tax group in Austria.

Dimitar has more than 10 years' experience as a leading tax advisor, most recently at the Austrian tax advisory firm LeitnerLeitner. He has extensive expertise in international tax law; corporate taxation; tax planning and tax advice in connection with international restructurings and reorganizations, mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance transactions, venture capital and private equity structures. Dimitar also has an excellent knowledge of the Russian and other Eastern European markets as he has advised on several inbound and outbound transactions in Eastern Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Roderik Bouwman, partner and Co-Global Head of Tax, said: "Dimitar's practice will fit perfectly with the firm's existing global platform and we are delighted to have him on board. The substantial growth in our Tax practice in recent years reflects the fact that there continues to be a strong client demand for our expertise in this area. Dimitar’s skills and experience will add valuable further depth to our team."

Dimitar's appointment continues the busy period for DLA Piper's international Tax group. Two weeks ago, the firm hired a three-partner tax team in Paris, Sylvie Vansteenkiste, Raphaël Béra and Fanny Combourieu. Last month, the firm announced the hire of Milan-based partner, Federico Pacelli, to lead the Italian Transfer Pricing team. In January the firm also announced the hire of Leeds-based corporate tax partner, David Smith. In addition to these new senior hires, the last 12 months has seen the firm launch new Tax practices in the Middle East and South Africa.
