M&A Intelligence Report 2016

Following on from the success of last year's European M&A Intelligence Report DLA Piper has launched its first Global M&A Intelligence Report. Last year's report was based on our analysis of a sample of 200 European M&A 2014 transactions. This year's report is based on a review of 500 deals across the US, Europe and Australia.

It looks at the differences between jurisdictions and types of buyers, analyses the changes over the last year and provides comprehensive information on key deal terms.

Some of the findings supported what most of us probably suspected was the case - other findings are more surprising.

  • How popular are auctions?
  • Has locked box replaced completion accounts?
  • What warranty liability cap is typical?
  • Private equity houses are canny sellers but what are they like as buyers?
  • How do private equity and strategics differ in their approach to key deal terms?

Our report answers these questions and provides the statistics to support them.

Not only does the report cover the types of deals and process, it provides an insight into earn outs, financial limits around warranties including cap and basket and at least ten other key aspects of an M&A transaction, and as such really does offer an informed insight to the question of 'what is market'.

Clients have already been invited to attend any one of the 18 launch events held across the globe but if you are active in the M&A space and would like an opportunity to discuss the report's findings in more detail with us then please contact us
