Gabriel Contreras focuses his practice on corporate law, guiding clients in matters concerning telecommunications regulatory law and antitrust and competition. 

Gabriel has served two terms as chairman of Mexico's Federal Institute of Telecommunications, appointed to that post by the Senate of the Republic. His terms ran from September 2013 to September 2017 and from October 2017 to February 2020.

Previously, he served in the Legal Office of the President of Mexico, most recently as Deputy Legal Counsel of Legislation and Regulation Studies.

Among his earlier positions, Gabriel was Technical Secretary to the President of Mexico and Director General of Regulation and Consultation at the Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings. 

He is currently Professor of Selected Topics of Constitutional Law at Escuela Libre de Derecho.
