In recent years the number of our people moving internationally and into new and emerging markets has increased – proof of our ability not only to react to the ever-changing market and provide our clients with the right people, the right skills, wherever they operate around the world, but also our expanding global reach.

Living and working in a new location and experiencing a new culture with different ways of working provides fantastic career development opportunities. We believe our approach to secondments fosters a global mindset and supports knowledge-sharing – enabling our people to work collaboratively across borders.

We are embarking on the second year of our innovative Global Mobility, which provides six-month exchange opportunities to those looking to gain experience of working across borders alongside their peers.

We have a dedicated Global Mobility team in place to support all secondments.

We are establishing a pool of flexible resources, comprised of alumni and friends of the firm to address client needs for greater agility in our service model, and to provide greater opportunities for key talent who want to work differently.

In doing so, we are partnering with the market leading 'Lawyers On Demand' (LOD) to help us grow and manage this.

This solution is different from any existing service because it will provide a broader range of assignments, flowing from both DLA Piper (both working as part of matter teams and filling excess client secondment needs) and LOD's own corporate client roster, all managed by the same point of contact. This will provide flexible lawyers with a plentiful selection of attractive assignments, whilst minimising their administrative burden.
