DLA Piper and LOD today announce a ground-breaking venture which will see DLA Piper and its clients benefit from a flexible resourcing capability using a bespoke, innovative approach powered by LOD. The venture will enable DLA Piper to further enhance its client solutions by leveraging a pool of resources, the core of which will consist of DLA Piper alumni. LOD will help establish and manage this pool, on behalf of DLA Piper, which will be further supported by LOD's considerable team of freelance lawyers. The venture will initially roll out in the UK, followed by other key international markets in early 2016.
Today’s announcement is part of DLA Piper's on-going strategy to provide a high quality service in the most appropriate way to its clients around the world, and part of LOD’s strategy of building a suite of flexible solutions for law firms, allowing firms to tailor their offering to clients using LOD’s powerful platform of lawyers, knowhow and technology. Building on LOD’s extensive experience of working with law firms through its Managed Teams, On Site and On Call models, the new service will enable DLA Piper to leverage LOD’s existing team and, working in partnership with LOD, capitalise on untapped alumni talent.
DLA Piper will use the LOD platform with immediate effect, to provide clients with an enhanced service, while offering staff and alumni more career choices. The firm has made no secret of its ambitions to launch a flexible resource and explored various options before working with LOD to create this scalable model which will be extended to international jurisdictions.
Simon Levine, Global Co-CEO, DLA Piper commented: "We are very proud of the reputation we have at DLA Piper for delivering outstanding client service and we are constantly seeking ways to further improve the service we offer our clients. Having a high-quality, flexible resource is a key part of our strategy and engaging LOD, the market leader in this field, is the right solution for our firm, our clients and our people including our talented alumni. Taking this approach allows us to focus on our core business and what we do best whilst leveraging LOD’s core business and what they do best – a truly innovative solution which adds up to a compelling offering for clients and lawyers alike."
Tom Hartley, Managing Director LOD, added: "Today’s announcement marks a step change in the way all law firms can address flexible working and resourcing, a unique model which we believe will be the catalyst for significant change in the industry. We are delighted to be working with DLA Piper, a truly innovative, global firm which shares our vision for the future. Like LOD, DLA Piper is a fast-growing, dynamic business and we are proud to be part of driving the firm’s continued success both in the UK and internationally."
