Francesca Pole is a data protection, privacy and cybersecurity lawyer. She advises multinational clients in the technology and retail sectors on data strategy and compliance.

Francesca’s understanding of new and emerging technologies allows her to provide practical support for clients navigating the complex privacy regulatory landscape. She also regularly advises on international data transfers, e-privacy and cybersecurity issues.

Francesca trained and qualified as a solicitor in England & Wales. She moved her practice to the Netherlands in 2019. She continues to apply her experiences from working in the UK to bridge the gap between the English and European privacy landscapes.

Her experience working on large scale compliance projects following the launch of the General Data Protection Regulation has led to a deeply ingrained knowledge of European privacy law and its application in practice.

She is an active member of the Amsterdam Technology Sector Group. She is passionate about the impact of the law on new technologies with a particular focus on regulatory developments for artificial intelligence.

EXPERIENCE

  • Works with data engineers, business intelligence professionals and other stakeholders at leading global retail and technology business to develop new HR tools and processes including advising on privacy risk and drafting Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  • Advises on corporate data management issues for multinationals in technology and industrials sectors including coordinating global data retention policies and managing internal and external international transfers of personal data.
  • Provides marketing teams with strategic B2C and B2B direct marketing advice including in relation to cookies and similar technologies.
  • Handles the coordination and management of data subject complaints, data subject rights, and disclosure request from authorities for a well-known consumer retail brand.
