DLA Piper advises Safety Insurance in US$1.54 billion acquisition by MAPFRE
DLA Piper represented Safety Insurance Group, Inc., a leading property and casualty insurer in Massachusetts and across New England, in its definitive agreement to be acquired by an affiliate of MAPFRE S.A., a global insurance group, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately US$1.54 billion.
The transaction is expected to support Safety’s continued service to policyholders, independent agents, and business partners across New England while preserving its brand and local market capabilities.
The DLA Piper deal team was led by Partners Chris Giordano and Carina Meleca (both New York), as well as Senior Counsel Peter Rice (Boston), and included Associates Vincent Schiavoni, Zachary Silva (both Phoenix), Andrew Rivera, and Sebastian Barton (both New York).
