DLA Piper advises Nuveen Green Capital on C-PACE financing for Winthrop Center residential project

DLA Piper advised Nuveen Green Capital, a leading provider of Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing, in the largest project financed through the PACE Massachusetts program to date: a US$281 million private financing for Millennium Residences at Winthrop Center, the residential component of Boston's mixed-use Winthrop Center development. The transaction was also the largest C-PACE transaction in New England history.

Developed and owned by Millennium Partners, Winthrop Center is a mixed-use development in Boston that includes residential, office and public gathering spaces. The financing was provided through PACE Massachusetts, a MassDevelopment-administered program that supports energy efficiency and renewable energy investments. Nuveen Green Capital, a Nuveen subsidiary, acting in its capacity as capital provider under the PACE Massachusetts program, provided the funding for the project. Nuveen Green Capital is a national leader in sustainable commercial real estate financing solutions.

The DLA Piper deal team was led by Partner Heather Horowitz and included Partners Jay Williams (both New York) and Ryan Hanofee, and Associates Bobby Ferullo and George Lilov (all Boston).
