Holly Drumheller Butler counsels domestic and international companies in the areas of commercial and products liability litigation, corporate compliance, and investigations.

Her experience ranges from handling “bet the company” class action matters to traditional commercial disputes.  Holly has significant trial experience, having tried cases in various federal and state courts. She has tried numerous arbitration proceedings and has experience in mediation. She has successfully opposed motions for class certification in numerous jurisdictions. Holly has extensive experience in the areas of case investigation, discovery, motions practice, and the preparation and presentation of expert and corporate designee witness testimony.

Holly has extensive appellate litigation experience. She has presented oral arguments before the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, Fifth Circuit, Sixth Circuit, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and the DC Court of Appeals.  In addition, she has authored appellate briefs in each of those courts, as well as the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Holly has conducted investigations in a broad array of sectors.  For example, Holly served as counsel to former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen in connection with his independent review of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s regulatory processes surrounding potential mining development in Bristol Bay, Alaska. She also has represented companies in voluntary disclosures to regulators and enforcement officials. 

Holly serves on the Hiring Committee for DLA Piper's Baltimore office. She also serves as the Baltimore office delegate for the firm's Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW) group.
