About

Mark Friedman has substantial experience in representing various debtor and creditor interests and official and unofficial committees in bankruptcy, as well as service as a Chapter 11 trustee.

In addition to the general representation of such clients, Mark has substantial litigation experience in bankruptcy courts including a wide variety of contested hearings and trials as well as appellate level arguments in bankruptcy courts throughout the country. He has also had extensive experience in the purchase and sale of troubled businesses both inside and outside the bankruptcy court process and in securitization transactions.

Mark's engagements have covered a wide range of industries and transactions including (i) the acquisition of a major league baseball team from a bankruptcy estate, (ii) a reorganization of the first African American founded business to be taken public in the United States, (iii) representation of a committee of securities' investors defrauded in a multi-national scheme and (iv) recently counsel for a large post-confirmation trust organized to pursue bankruptcy estate claims against creditors and resolve creditor claims against the bankruptcy estate through the development of "rough justice" rules rather than litigation.

Mark is a member of the Panel of Bankruptcy Trustees of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland and has had a special trustee appointment from the US District Court. He lectures to lawyers, accountants, and other professional groups, including seminars for commercial lenders and other financial institutions as well as units of the Internal Revenue Service.
