Angela Furlanetto is an experienced trial counsel who has worked in intellectual property litigation for close to twenty years. Her practice focuses on complex patent litigation in the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotech and mechanical fields, where her litigation acumen is complemented by her advanced technical degree in biochemistry and her knowledge of the scientific issues.

Angela appears regularly before the courts and has received many accolades for her work as a litigator, particularly in the patent and life science areas. She handles all aspects of litigation practice from preparing pre-litigation opinions and developing trial and dispute resolution strategies, through to case preparation and representation at trial. Angela has considerable experience working with counsel in various jurisdictions, co-ordinating the Canadian part of multi-jurisdictional lawsuits. She has worked in all areas of intellectual property litigation, including trade-mark and copyright.

Angela is one of a select few IP litigators who have served on the Federal Court IP Users’ Committee, a liaison committee between the judiciary and the IP Bar and is currently the Canadian Bar Association’s IP Section representative on the Federal Court Bench and Bar Committee.
