Melissa Gaul practices corporate and commercial law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, as well as corporate structuring, governance, and related business services. 

Melissa assists established as well as emerging corporations in a broad range of commercial transactions, including acquisitions and reorganizations.

Melissa also represents both financial institutions and borrowers in a broad range of financing transactions.  She has particular experience in the area of aviation finance and has acted for a wide range of aviation clients, including aircraft lessors, operators, financial institutions, corporate aircraft owners, and investors.  She has diverse experience in the structuring of secured financing for aircraft transactions, particularly with regard to the interaction between the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and Quebec civil law.

She holds both a Bachelor of Common Law (LL.B.) and Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.) from the McGill University Faculty of Law.  She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A., First Class Honours, Dean’s Honour List) in Literature from McGill University. 

During her studies, Melissa conducted legal research for numerous Canadian and international lawyers and organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme and the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
