Andrew Lloyd is a senior associate with a broad corporate and commercial practice focused on general commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, banking and financial services, aviation-related matters and education law.

Andrew frequently works with both lenders and borrowers on a variety of lending and other debt financing transactions, both secured and unsecured, and ranging from loans from institutional lenders for closely held enterprises to complex, multijurisdictional financings for publicly traded companies.

As part of his diverse practice, Andrew also frequently represents private and public institutions in the education field on a wide variety of matters, including those unique to educational institutions.  This includes providing advice on procurement and tendering matters, outsourcing, infrastructure and facilities, privacy issues, partnerships and joint ventures with private and public organizations, donations, governance and regulatory compliance matters.

Andrew also has a particular expertise in the area of aircraft and engine financing and leasing.  Andrew has worked with a diverse group of clients in the aviation industry, including financiers, suppliers and operators of airframes, engines and parts on many domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions.

Prior to joining DLA Piper (Canada) LLP, Andrew practiced in the Calgary office of a national law firm and was in-house counsel at a major North American railway.

Before entering the practice of law, Andrew worked for several years in Japan and the United States for a major Japanese transportation company, which included a posting with the company’s international strategic planning office in Tokyo.
