Veronika Appl has extensive experience in the fields of intellectual property law and information technology, focusing on strategic advice at the intersection of innovation, digitalization, and law.
Her practice includes a range of complex intellectual property, unfair competition, and regulatory law matters. She advises national and international clients on trademarks, designs, patents, copyright, marketing, and unfair business practices. In addition to all legal aspects of corporate identity and intellectual property strategies, she also deals with contractual solutions, commercial aspects and M&A transactions.
Providing clients with strategic advice in the areas of technology and information technology is a key component of her practice. This includes matters related to licensing and sponsoring, technology transfer, IT outsourcing, and contract law, as well as data protection issues.
Her many years of practical experience also flow into her litigation capabilities in national and international matters. She represents clients in civil proceedings with a focus on unfair competition proceedings and administrative and administrative criminal proceedings.
Veronika is particularly experienced in the consumer goods and life sciences sectors ranging from food and cosmetics to pharmaceuticals and medical devices. She also regularly advises on matters in the technology and telecommunications sectors, combining complex regulatory issues with commercial considerations. Finally, her practice encompasses all aspects of art law, ranging from copyright protection strategies to the regulatory obligations of museum operations and exhibition organization.
Veronika heads the Austrian Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group of DLA Piper. She is also head of the Austrian Consumer Goods, Food and Retail sector within our firm.
Veronika teaches unfair competition law at the University of Vienna and intellectual property law at the University for Continuing Education Krems. She is an author of relevant publications and a speaker at international conferences.
