Simone is a Special Counsel in the Melbourne Corporate group. Simone is an experienced corporate M&A practitioner focusing on cross border and domestic private treaty M&A, with a particular focus on the energy sector.
Simone regularly acts for both local and international investors and project developers of renewable energy assets, having regard to financing and divestment strategies to enhance equity value on divestment. 
Simone also acts for a number of W&I insurers on W&I underwriting matters. 
Simone was a finalist for the 2018 Lawyers' Weekly 30 Under 30 Award in the Mergers and Acquisitions category.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising Sosteneo Energy Transition Fund, a global renewable energy asset management fund on its planned acquisition of the Koorangie Energy Storage Project located in North-West Victoria, its first Australian investment. The Koorangie Energy Storage Project is a battery energy storage system with a total capacity of 185MW / 370MWh.
  • Advising BlueFloat on its divestment and joint venture agreement with Origin Energy for a 1.5GW offshore wind development project. 
  • Advising Solar United Network on its divestment of a 49% interest in the Merredin Solar Farm to a confidential investor. 
  • Advising Enel (currently known as Potentia Energy) on the acquisition of Quorn Park Solar Farm and Peel Valley Solar Farm.
  • Advising Enel (currently known as Potentia Energy) on the proposed acquisition of various solar and BESS development assets in Australia.
  • Advising Enel (currently known as Potentia Energy) on various FIRB and corporate law matters relating to their Australian portfolio assets.
  • Advising on Australian corporate law aspects of the sale of Elgin Energy to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
  • Advising EDF Renewables on various opportunities in Australia. 
  • Advising Grupo Cobra, a global leading infrastructure investor headquartered in Spain, on the acquisition of two standalone utility scale solar development projects in Australia. 
  • Advising a confidential investor on its acquisition of the Spark Renewables renewable energy platform. 
  • Advising an underbidder on the proposed acquisition of Wirsol Energy. 
  • Advising a confidential investor on its investment into the Elanora Offshore Wind Project.
