Brent L. Bernell

Brent Bernell provides counsel to public and private companies, as well as the institutional investors that help them grow, on the full spectrum of corporate and securities matters, including M&A, venture capital financing, capital markets and public company reporting and corporate governance.

Brent's transactional practice includes representing strategic and financial buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions, as well as private companies and institutional investors in venture capital and private equity investments and issuers and underwriters in registered and unregistered public offerings. He also has extensive experience advising on securities law compliance, public company reporting obligations and corporate governance matters. Brent's practice spans industries, but he has a particular focus in the technology, software and life sciences industries.

Brent is the Chair of the Firm's Texas Corporate Practice and also serves on the Firm's national capital markets & public company advisory and emerging growth & venture capital leadership groups. He additionally serves on the Austin advisory board of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Texas TriCities Chapter and previously was the Chair of the Technology Section of the Austin Bar Association.
