About

Adam is a Legal Director in the Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations Group and is based in DLA Piper's Dubai office. Adam specialises in all aspects of international and domestic arbitration, ADGM and DIFC litigation and alternative dispute resolution and has experience in the UK, Middle East and Australia.

Adam has dispute resolution experience acting for both private and public organisations in a wide variety of sectors, including banking and finance, transport, manufacturing, information technology, construction and telecommunications.

EXPERIENCE

  • Representing a prominent Indian real estate developer in a US$ 600 million dispute involving entities incorporated in the Isle of Man, BVI, Mauritius, India and the US. Advising the client in relation to parallel proceedings in the High Court of the Isle of Man and an LCIA arbitration seated in Singapore.
  • Acting on behalf of a UK public authority in a GBP 750 million dispute involving the provision of a defective IT system for public service use in the UK. Advising the client in relation to an LCIA arbitration seated in London and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Advising a pan-African supranational multilateral financial institution in multiple arbitration claims (DIFC-LCIA and DIAC) relating to defaulting state-level borrowers for claims totalling in excess of US$ 500 million.
  • Acting on behalf of a UAE-based development company in DIAC arbitration proceedings concerning claims of up to US$ 50 million arising from alleged defaults under and investment agreement.
  • Representing a UK client in ICC arbitration proceedings against a Russian state owned investment company.
  • Advising a Saudi-based pipe manufacturing business in DIAC arbitration proceedings arising from the supply of defective feed product resulting in claims of up to US$ 25 million.
  • Acting on behalf of multiple co-defendants in ADGM Court proceedings in respect of claims arising from alleged defaults under a shareholders' agreement and related claims of up to US$ 80 million.
  • Representing a high-net worth individual in resisting foreign judgment (and an associated freezing order application) enforcement proceedings before the DIFC Court in the value of in excess of US$ 200 million.
  • Acting on behalf of an Indian businessman in resisting fraud claims (and an associated freezing order application and related contempt proceedings) before the DIFC Courts in the sum of up to US$ 25 million.
  • Advising a UAE property development company in DIFC Court proceedings in relation to the unlawful termination of a financial agreement in respect of a hotel development project on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
  • Advising an Australian manufacturing company in relation to a AUD20 million product liability dispute in the High Court of Victoria.
  • Representing a UAE-based MEP contractor in DIAC arbitration proceedings arising in respect of a prominent Dubai hotel development in claims in excess of AED 1 billion.
  • Acting on behalf of a UAE-based developer in DIAC arbitration proceedings arising from the construction of the formerly world's tallest residential building in claims of over AED 100 million.
  • Advising a US conglomerate in two ICC arbitrations seated in Qatar relating to the construction of the Hamad International Airport.
  • Acting on behalf of an international clay pipe manufacturer in successfully defending a US$ 100 million product liability claim in Bahrain.
  • Advising a UAE-based transport infrastructure operator in relation to contractual and insurance claims arising from a weather event including potential claims in the region of AED 1 billion.
