About

Neil Campbell is a leveraged finance lawyer with almost 20 years’ experience in structuring and negotiating complex debt finance transactions, in particular in connection with leveraged acquisitions and other event-driven situations.

Neil advises private credit funds, bank lenders and private equity sponsors on debt products throughout the capital structure, including unitranche, PIK, first lien/second lien, mezz and super senior / FOLO.

Neil has substantial experience in esoteric financing products, such as (late-stage) ARR lending, and in specialised situations, such as public-to-private transactions and competitive bid/auction processes.

Neil also advises lenders to large international corporates on their corporate financing transactions, including in connection with IPOs and M&A.

Neil has particular focus on cross-border financing transactions and works very closely with colleagues (and friends!), in various practice groups, across the global DLA Piper network.

Neil is head of the London debt finance team and co-head of the UK Financial Services sector.

  • HSBC Innovation as mandated lead arranger and Citibank, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, two other major investment banks and another major financial institution as lenders on financing for Wise, in connection with the largest ever direct listing, and the largest ever tech listing, on the London Stock Exchange.
  • Zedra, a Corsair Capital asset, on a portable unitranche and super senior financing (FOLO) provided by Hayfin, Macquarie, Golub and a major financial institution.
  • Bridgepoint Credit and a major financial institution on unitranche and super senior financing for the acquisition of JSM Group by TowerBrook.
  • MidEuropa, on unitranche financing from Ares provided for the acquisition of FAMAR, together with a Greek law working capital bond.
  • Duke Street, on financing for the acquisition of McAvoy, a modular buildings and social infrastructure provider and manufacturer, from funds managed by Blantyre Capital.
  • Duke Street, on financing for the acquisition of Agito Medical, a leading medical imaging solutions provider, supporting healthcare practitioners by providing access to high-quality imaging equipment as well as radiography staffing services.

  • HSBC Innovation Bank and JPMorgan on ARR financing for Redstor, a Bregal Milestone asset.
  • HSBC Innovation Bank on financing provided to Radar Healthcare, a Marlin asset, in connection with the acquisition of EIDO healthcare.
