Alexander Castanares focuses his practice on US and foreign patent protection. He applies his engineering knowledge to advise clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including matters related to patent preparation and prosecution, reexamination, and competitive analysis.
Alexander has experience in the strategic planning, development and management of global IP portfolios tailored to individual clients' business needs. Alexander has experience collaborating with foreign counsel to secure patents across the world, including in Australia, China, Germany, India, Japan, and Korea.
Alexander has experience in a range of technologies, including software systems and processes, user interfaces, data management services, computer vision, machine learning, and IoT. He represents companies in consumer electronics, multimedia distribution systems, payment networks, internet-based technologies, and network architecture.
Alexander attended UC Davis School of Law where he served as the president of the King Hall Intellectual Property Law Association and earned his intellectual property law certificate. Alexander also attended California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo where he earned his B.S. in Software Engineering.
