Anna Chambers is a solicitor in the corporate team. She has experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including general corporate governance, commercial contract negotiation, competition issues, cross-border M&A and overseas investment requiring consent under the Overseas Investment Act.

Anna works with both domestic and international clients on significant and complex cross-border transactions. She supports clients across a wide range of industries including retail, forestry, renewable energy, agriculture, real estate and food and beverage.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising Datagrid New Zealand Limited Partnership on its establishment of a hyperscale data centre in New Zealand which is expected to introduce over NZD1bn into the New Zealand economy. This included securing consent for the acquisition under the Overseas Investment Act.
  • Advising the New Zealand subsidiaries of a large international retailer in respect of its forestry acquisitions in New Zealand. Including advising on the Overseas Investment Regime aspects of these acquisitions, and on the conversion of these acquisition from farm land to forestry.
  • Advised Chinese state-owned enterprise and its New Zealand subsidiary on the sale of their interests in a New Zealand forestry asset valued over NZD100m.
  • Advising a large offshore investment manager on its establishment of numerous solar projects in New Zealand, including advising on the Overseas Investment Regime aspects of the transactions.
  • Advising a large offshore investment manager on the sale of its organic dairy portfolio in New Zealand.
  • Acting for Yashili New Zealand Dairy Co., Limited on the preparation and negotiation of its commercial supply agreements.
  • Acted for Foodstuffs in respect of the New Zealand Commerce Commission’s market study into the New Zealand grocery industry. The 16-month study concluded with the Commission's final report in March 2022.
  • Advising offshore clients on ongoing compliance obligations under the Overseas Investment Regime.
  • Advising domestic and international clients on their corporate governance obligations in New Zealand.
