Queenie Chan is a senior associate of the Litigation & Regulatory Department based in our Hong Kong and Singapore office. She is also responsible for managing the international arbitration practice in the Asia-Pacific region.

Queenie has vast experience in representing and advising construction companies in all stages of court proceedings, arbitrations, adjudications, mediations and other regulatory matters for projects in Hong Kong, Singapore and internationally.

She also has broad experience in advising companies from the financial services and telecommunications sectors on contentious and regulatory matters in Hong Kong and Singapore.

She is recognized as a “Rising Star” in the 2020 Edition of Legal 500 for Construction (Hong Kong) and is recommended by client as ‘a safe pair of hands that can be trusted to get the job done’.

  • Acting for the construction arm of a multinational conglomerate headquartered in South Korea in a dispute with its joint venture partner in relation to a multi-billion infrastructure project in Hong Kong including the court proceedings for interlocutory injunctions, contempt of court proceedings, mediation and arbitration seated in Hong Kong.
  • Acting for a leading global design and consultancy firm in a claim for professional negligence by the Hong Kong Government on a major infrastructure project in Hong Kong. The claim amounts to over HKD 428 million.
  • Acting for a leading aircraft manufacturer in an ICC arbitration worth USD 150 million in relation to a dispute on an intellectual property licensing agreement.
  • Acting for a global raw material trading company in an expedited SIAC arbitration to recover demurrages and loss and expenses in relation to various shipment deliveries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Acting for the construction arm of one of the largest property developer in Hong Kong in a HKIAC arbitration to defend claims in relation to a large scale redevelopment project in Hong Kong.
  • Acting for the subsidiary of one of the largest entertainment and visitor attraction operator to commence two parallel proceedings against its main contractor and architect in relation to a major entertainment attraction in Hong Kong.
  • Acting for a subsidiary of a Hong Kong listed company in an ad hoc arbitration Hong Kong to claim for outstanding payment and wrongful termination in excess of HK$ 92 million against the employer in relation to the Main Contract Works for a major development project in Mongkok and to defend parallel arbitration commenced by a nominated sub-contractor of the project.
  • Advising a leading dredging company in Singapore on the adjudication determination and relevant issues under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 of Singapore in relation to a major reclamation project in Singapore.
  • Acting for a leading global design and consultancy firm in a Hong Kong-seated arbitration to defend a claim arising from one of the largest infrastructure project in the Pearl River Delta region.
  • Advising the property development arm of a Hong Kong listed company on a dispute against the local contractor for a five-star hotel and resort project in Japan.
  • Advising a Hong Kong-based global security and crisis management company in a HKIAC arbitration in a multimillion claim for fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of share purchase and shareholder agreements for a Singapore company.
  • Advising a leading movie technology company in an AAA arbitration in relation to a dispute arising from force majeure clauses in a share purchase agreement.
  • Advising a major telecommunication service provider in Hong Kong on various compliance and regulatory issues and customers’ complaints to the Hong Kong Office of the Communications Authority.
  • Advising a global banking corporation in Singapore on various cases for complaints and court proceedings relating to mis-selling of financial products and other compliance and regulatory issues including various mareva injunction and disclosure orders and interpleader applications.
  • Acting for two high net-worth individuals to defend and discharge injunction proceedings commenced in Hong Kong in aid of court proceedings commenced in California, U.S. and successfully enforcing an undertaking as to damages.
  • Acting for the founding shareholders of a global car-parts manufacturer and supplier in a shareholder dispute with other founding members of the manufacturing arm in Hong Kong and China.
