David Cher currently concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and real estate finance, with an emphasis on highly structured transactions including mezzanine loans and structured participations.
His background includes many years as a corporate in-house lawyer, where he served as a manager and a counselor on a wide variety of legal issues and projects.
Although his focus at DLA Piper has been on commercial real estate and finance, as a result of his many years as an in-house lawyer David is also a true generalist. His experience extends to commercial disputes and litigation management, primary and secondary mortgage market transactions, mezzanine and B-Note investing, private equity funds, environmental law and litigation, bankruptcy, banking regulation, mergers and acquisitions, private placements, public company investor reporting and corporate governance, purchase, sale, and licensing of technology and general counseling of senior managers on strategic and day-to-day management and compliance issues. He is a frequent public speaker and an active member of the General Counsel Forum of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers.
