Jack is an Associate in DLA Piper's Corporate Crime, Investigations & Compliance practice in the UK, focusing on global investigations in a broad range of sectors.

Jack has experience carrying out and organising internal investigations, both in the UK and other jurisdictions, including coordinating and managing external forensic experts, and investigating significant civil or criminal misconduct, including bribery, money laundering, fraud, facilitation of tax evasion, and trade sanctions. Jack also advises clients on the planning and implementation of compliance programmes, including whistleblowing, for which he has advised clients on the design of holistic policies and procedures in respect of the EU Whistleblowing Directive.

In addition to investigations, Jack has experience advising international clients with high-value cross-border contentious matters, including litigation and arbitration.

EXPERIENCE

  • Conducting an internal investigation for a global retail client and its UK subsidiary, spanning multiple jurisdictions, regarding allegations of misconduct relating to accounting irregularities.
  • Advising a global retail client on the design and implementation of cross-border whistleblowing policies and procedures, covering 26 jurisdictions with respect to both the EU Whistleblowing Directive and relevant national legislation in each jurisdiction.
  • Providing regulatory support to corporate M&A transactions including regulatory due diligence, warranties and indemnities drafting, in relation to the UK Bribery Act, Modern Slavery Act, trade sanctions, and other areas of compliance.
  • Advising several clients as to their obligation to notify the National Crime Agency via a Suspicious Activity Report in relation to money laundering and/or terrorist financing, with reference to transactions and activities in high-risk jurisdictions.
  • Advising multiple global companies and financial institutions with respect to Russia sanctions, focusing on clients in the financial services sector.
  • Acting for a multinational telecom company against USD200+ million claim brought under LCIA arbitration rules arising out of shareholder dispute in relation to a former joint venture partner.
