Shylene De Jesus has over twenty years of experience in civil and commercial litigation. She has participated in a variety of complex cases over the years in a wide-ranging variety of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, creditor’s rights, and class actions.

Shylene has also acted as lead counsel in intellectual property matters for both US and International companies in cases dealing with trademark infringement, unfair competition and cybersquatting. She has ample experience managing ex parte proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, inter parte proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and alternate dispute resolution procedures before the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Prior Experience

Before joining DLA Piper, Shylene acted as Chief Legal Counsel for Puerto Rico’s Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority, which acts as the fiscal agency of the Government of Puerto Rico and is the key liaison between the Government and the Financial Oversight and Management Board, the entity in charge of addressing the fiscal debt of Puerto Rico and its instrumentalities pursuant to PROMESA Act. Shylene also served as Chief Legal Counsel and Deputy Executive Director for the Puerto Rico Public Private Partnership Authority, which, since its creation, has launched multiple P3 projects to guarantee economic sustainability and improve the island’s infrastructure.
