Neil Dilloff's diversified national litigation practice included significant experience, as well as roles as lead counsel, in many large insurance, professional malpractice, construction and complex commercial litigation matters.

Neil also served as claims counsel to the firm. He has tried to verdict more than 100 cases in state and federal courts and has won two of the largest plaintiffs' verdicts in Maryland history. He has also successfully defended law firms, insurance companies and other organizations.

Since 2002, he has served as a civil case mediator on the Baltimore City Circuit Court's Mediation Panel. In 2009, he was selected to become a member of ADR Maryland, a select group of litigators who are experienced as neutrals in such alternative dispute resolution techniques as arbitration and mediation. He also served as a civil case mediator for various Maryland circuit courts.

  • Affirmance by the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit of a motion to dismiss in favor of defendant national law firm in a US$259 million putative class action seeking the imposition of a constructive trust on legal fees and alleging violation of the Credit Repair Organizations Act
  • Affirmance by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in a class action for damages against our client for failing to reimburse third party providers of medical care
  • Won US$242 million legal malpractice case on motion for summary judgment on behalf of the defendant, a national law firm
  • Defense jury verdict in favor of law firm and senior partner in a US$45 million legal malpractice case

In the 2016 edition, he was listed in seven categories (arbitration, bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, legal malpractice law – defendants, litigation – construction, mediation, and personal injury litigation – defendants). He has been named Maryland "Lawyer of the Year" on three occasions: in 2015, in "bet-the-company" litigation, in 2016, in legal malpractice law, and in 2019, in construction law. Teaching

Since 1983, he has taught civil trial practice, trial advocacy, settlement negotiations and deposition practice for the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers and currently teaches continuing legal education courses for the Maryland State Bar Association. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Law and at the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Military Experience

From 1973 – 1977, Neil served in the US Navy as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.
