About

As a member of the firm's Investment Management and Real Estate Capital Markets practice, David represents fund sponsors in structuring, forming, and operating private funds. His practice concentrates on providing counsel to private investment funds, from setting up parallel funds, co-investment entities, and other related investment vehicles to raising capital and negotiating side letters.

In addition to private funds, David has experience in structuring real estate related joint venture acquisitions, REIT transactions, and in providing counsel for ongoing fund operational matters especially in navigating regulatory changes. David also represents real estate funds, landlords, and developers in negotiating construction contracts with general contractors, architects, and civil engineers as well as representing real estate fund general partners in negotiating development agreements with joint-venture partners.

David also brings a wealth of business experience to bear on his practice of law. After relocating to Illinois in 2015, David learned the ropes of real estate based construction lending in an Illinois community bank while working as a staff accountant and loan operations specialist. Subsequently, David took this knowledge in-house to a privately held architecture and real estate development firm as an accounting associate where he managed the construction loan draw process from start to finish for award-winning multi-family developments with total valuations in excess of $1 billion in both Illinois and Arizona markets.

When not in the office, David volunteers with Lawyers Serving Warriors a program of the National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP) to provide pro bono legal services to veterans seeking a discharge upgrade. He also volunteers at Love, Inc., a local non-profit seeking to help lift people in his community out of poverty and homelessness.
