About
Michael Gniwisch represents plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes cases at trial and on appeal. Michael has experience in several areas, including breach of fiduciary duty, defamation, and data breach disputes, but focuses his practice on patent litigation and Federal Circuit appeals. Michael plays an integral role in all his cases. He has developed facts at summary judgment, prepared winning motions on dispositive issues, and briefed complex appeals.

Before joining DLA Piper, Michael clerked for Judge Kent A. Jordan at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Judge Jordan also sat by designation on the District of Delaware, and Michael was his designated "patent clerk," assisting the Judge through four patent litigation cases including a two-week long trial.

Michael graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he served as Alumni Editor on the Law Review. At Penn Law, Michael received the merit-based Dean's Scholarship and edited the Penn Intellectual Property Group's (PIPG) blog. Michael received a bachelor's degree equivalent from Central Yeshiva where he was ordained rabbi.
