Jessica is a Senior Associate specialising in global sustainability reporting and ESG regulatory frameworks. Jessica has advised corporates and fund managers across the UK, EU, US and UAE on the operational implementation of the EU Taxonomy Regulation, Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), ESRS/CSRD-aligned reporting expectations, ISSB IFRS Sustainability Standards, and related disclosure regimes, supporting clients to design and execute compliant reporting strategies grounded in robust data, materiality assessment and governance processes. Jessica's practice includes guiding multinational groups through cross-jurisdictional ESG disclosure obligations, advising on the interpretation and integration of sustainability reporting rules into internal ESG frameworks, investment processes, corporate governance structures and regulatory submissions. She has supported clients through the end-to-end development of sustainability reporting systems, including data-gathering models, GHG Protocol-aligned emissions analysis, and the alignment of disclosures with emerging regulatory requirements in the UK, EU and UAE.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising clients in the EU, UK, US, and UAE on the development and implementation of ESG policies and frameworks for clients, including advising on sustainability reporting standards and materiality assessments.
  • Providing advice to various fund and asset managers on ESG-related product disclosures under the SFDR, counselling on ESG reporting obligations across various jurisdictions, and advising on data gathering and due diligence requirements.
  • Advising on internal corporate EHS and ESG training, decarbonisation plans, corporate social responsibility initiatives, anti-ESG trends, and alignment with the UN SDGs and ISSB IFRS Sustainability Standards.
  • Providing legal advice to clients across various sectors on compliance with ESG and EHS regulations, including “greenwashing” and “greenhushing” risks.
  • Acted as the lead Associate within the ESG counsel team for TPG Rise Climate’s acquisition of Techem Group for consideration of approximately EUR6.7bn, including conducting ESG and EHS due diligence, and assisting in drafting documents for completion.
  • Acted as the lead Associate within the ESG counsel team for TPG Rise Climate’s acquisition of MIRATECH, including conducting ESG and EHS due diligence, and assisting in drafting documents for completion.
  • Acted as the lead Associate within the ESG counsel team for the TPG Rise Fund, which was the lead investor in the Series C financing of Hayden AI Technologies.
  • Acted as the lead environmental lawyer for Stanmore Resources’ acquisition of BHP Mitsui Coal for consideration of USD1.35bn, including conducting environmental due diligence, advising on financial assurance requirements, and assisting in drafting documents for completion.
  • Assisted clients in securing appropriate approvals for major infrastructure, mining, natural gas, wind, and solar projects, providing guidance on every phase of the project, from feasibility assessment to operational stages.
  • Defended two alleged Linc Energy executives against an environmental prosecution by the Queensland Government for environmental contamination at Linc Energy’s underground coal gasification site. The Director of Public Prosecutions discontinued the proceedings in 2021, as the Director was no longer satisfied that there were sufficient prospects of convictions.
  • Advising R v Dumble [2021] QCA 161 - Favourable ruling by the Queensland Court of Appeal on executive officer liability for environmental harm. Acted as legal counsel for two alleged Linc Energy executives.
  • Advising Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Ltd (ACN 076 870 650) v Airservices Australia & Ors (BS11343/2017) – Civil litigation regarding alleged liability for PFAS contamination at Brisbane Airport. Acted as legal counsel for Brisbane Airport Corporation.
