Nazia is an associate in our Finance group, advising on a broad spectrum of finance, litigation and insolvency matters. Nazia has extensive experience in debt recovery, foreclosures, distressed sales, and bankruptcy/ insolvency proceedings.

Nazia has worked on numerous complex, high-profile, and pioneering projects in the real estate and the financial services sectors.

Nazia provides counsel to a range of clients, including local and international banks, financial institutions, private equity firms, healthcare companies and multinational corporations.

EXPERIENCE

  • Managing, advising and acting for local and international banking clients in relation to debt recovery, filing legal proceedings before the onshore courts in the UAE and enforcing judgments abroad.
  • Advising local and international financial institutions in relation to a wide range of issues, including advising on enforcement proceedings in the UAE associated with their distressed lending portfolio and issues arising from lending and security packages
  • Advising various private equity firms in relation to various acquisition of NPL portfolio from local and international banks in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
  • Acting for a UAE government owned shareholder, advising and commencing bankruptcy proceedings against a construction company.
  • Acting for a liquidator, advising and successfully defending a number of litigation matters in relation to claims filed against a major oil bunkering company that was placed into a liquidation process.
  • Representing a major healthcare group in ligation proceedings before the local courts.
