Prior Experience
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Brent served as an Attorney-Advisor with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, where he authored and issued binding administrative rulings on tariff classification, country of origin for marking and Section 301 duties, and eligibility for preferential tariff treatment under various trade preference programs and free trade agreements.
Brent previously served as an Attorney at the U.S. International Trade Commission, where he worked for then-Commissioner and former Chairman Meredith Broadbent on import injury investigations, ranging from antidumping and countervailing duty investigations to Section 201 investigations.
Brent began his career as a Legal Fellow with the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, Subcommittee on Trade. There, he worked on the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act, as well as renewal of certain trade preference programs and trade promotion authority.
