About

Itxaso López is a partner in DLA Piper’s Real Estate team in Madrid. She has a proven track record in complex real estate transactions.

Throughout her career, she has advised leading international investors on domestic and cross-border transactions, including the acquisition and financing of a wide range of assets (offices, logistics, hotels, shopping centres and residential properties, with experience in social housing as well).

She has led and participated in numerous land acquisitions for the development of real estate projects, covering both traditional uses and new formats (including data centres), bringing solid expertise in town planning, management and construction.

In recent years, she has played an active role in European initiatives related to the integration of ESG criteria into real estate legal advice, aligning transactions with new regulatory and market requirements.

Her experience includes advising on:

  • On the sale of a portfolio of 16 logistics assets located in the Czech Republic, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Italy.
  • To an insurance company on the acquisition of a multi-jurisdictional portfolio of 10 logistics assets totalling 188,000 m².
  • An investment and financial advisory firm on the acquisition of a plot of land in La Muela (Zaragoza) for the development of interconnected logistics warehouses and their subsequent leasing and sale.
  • An international property development company in the acquisition of a plot of land for the development of a logistics warehouse in the municipality of Constanti (Tarragona) for its lease and subsequent sale, and in the sale of a newly built logistics warehouse in Montornés del Vallés (Barcelona).
  • To a financial services firm on the acquisition and financing of an office building in central Madrid for lease to WeWork.
  • To a multinational in the hospitality sector on the purchase of a portfolio of office buildings in Madrid and Barcelona.
  • A financial services company in the acquisition, management and subsequent sale of the largest outlet shopping centre in the province of Alicante.
  • To a real estate investment fund in the acquisition of the “H2O” shopping centre in Madrid. 
  • An international insurance group and a European asset management firm in the purchase of the Puerto Venecia Shopping Centre, one of the largest shopping centres in Spain.
  • An international hotel chain in the negotiation of lease and management contracts with operators for a portfolio of hotels located throughout Spain.
  • To a company specialising in real estate, advertising and market research in a sale and leaseback transaction involving a hotel in Barcelona.
  • To a foreign investor in the purchase of several properties within the Canalejas Four Seasons complex in Madrid.
  • An international property developer and manager in the tender process to secure an administrative concession for the development of a build-to-rent residential project on a plot of land owned by the Community of Madrid in Arganda del Rey, advising on the construction contract and the financing obtained from the ICO.
  • To a European investment manager regarding financing for a property development company for the construction of residential projects located on the Costa del Sol and the island of Ibiza
  • To an asset management firm specialising in alternative investments regarding the acquisition of SDIN, Banco Sabadell’s residential development platform.
