EXPERIENCE

  • Advising Universities Superannuation Scheme the UK’s largest pension scheme with approximately 400,000 members in relation to a wide range of pensions related issues including resolving member complaints raised under the IDR procedure as well as dealing with complaints to the Pensions Ombudsman and appeals to the High Court.
  • Advising on significant corporate transactions which have included flexible apportionment arrangements, undertaking pension scheme de-mergers and entering into pensions funding agreements and guarantees.
  • Assisting multi employers who are part of a group section of a DB Scheme to wind-up and transfer to a DC arrangement.
  • Working collaboratively with other advisers on pension scheme mergers, liability reduction exercises, de-risking exercises and benefit change projects.
  • Advising the largest UK public sector pension scheme in relation to funding obligations of Admission Bodies and changes in statutory regulations which permit retrospective changes.
  • Advising on cross border pensions related matters including securing parent guarantee and enforceability issues relating to non-UK jurisdiction.
