Alvin is a member of the Corporate group with a practice that encompasses corporate and ‎commercial matters, ‎construction dispute resolution, commercial real estate, and pension and employee ‎benefits.‎

Alvin’s practice encompasses a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including share purchase ‎‎transactions, corporate organization and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, employment matters, and ‎‎pension and benefits matters. He also assists with construction disputes, financing and real estate ‎matters.‎

Alvin routinely assists with pension and benefits matters. His experience includes: providing governance advice to pension and employee benefits trust funds, ‎reviewing and advising on investment funds and investment management agreements for pension and ‎benefit plans, acting for pension funds with respect to division of pension benefits upon marriage ‎breakdown, and acting for pension funds and employee benefit funds in the collection of contributions from ‎participating employers. Alvin also advises clients on de-risking transactions, including the termination and wind-up of employee pension plans, annuity contract purchases and negotiations, with third party insurance companies, as well as navigating the regulatory landscape throughout the process. 

In 2023, Alvin was named to the Best Lawyers Canada Ones to Watch list.‎

  • Acted for the Seller in the sale of a multi-million dollar, medical office building comprised of ‎approximately 120,000 square feet of leasable area.‎
  • Acted for the Canadian subsidiary of a large, international investment management firm in the sale of a ‎multi-million dollar commercial office building comprised of approximately 140,000 square feet of ‎leasable area.‎
  • Acted in the restructuring of the Canadian subsidiaries of a large, US-based publicly traded company.‎
  • Acted for a European public corporation with respect to establishing a Canadian subsidiary and with ‎respect to the purchase of a Canadian corporation providing transportation and logistics services in ‎Canada.‎
  • Acted for the Seller in the sale of an airport hangar and related assets.‎
  • Acted for a large, international investment management firm with respect to establishing a Canadian ‎subsidiary and purchasing commercial property in Canada.‎
