Nikhil advises clients on the the project development and financing of energy and infrastructure projects, including power generation (thermal, nuclear and renewables), hydrogen, refinery, LNG,/pipeline, social infrastructure and telecoms projects. He has advised on many "first of a kind" and market-leading projects across EMEA.

Nikhil regularly advises on transactions involving multilaterals, development finance institutions and export credit agencies.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised the EDF, Masdar, Suez and EWP consortium on the project financing of a multi-plant integrated utility system including Solar PV, BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), Reverse Osmosis and wastewater treatment plants, ancillary facilities and network systems as a part of the Amaala Giga project in Saudi Arabia.
  • Advised NEOM on the closing of the USD 8.5bn project financing of the Helios green ammonia export project in Saudi Arabia.
  • Advised the lenders on the project financing of the GATE LNG regasification terminal in The Netherlands (including both expansion project financings).
  • Advised KEPCO on the project financing of the Jafurah independent steam power project for Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia.
  • Advising Hidroelectica de Cahora Bassa on its financings from various development finance institutions in respect of its 2085 MW hydro plant in Mozambique.
  • Advised EWEC on the procurement and financing of the S4 RO IWP at Shuweihat, Abu Dhabi.
  • Advised China General Nuclear on all aspects of its GBD9bn investment in the GBD24bn Hinkley Point C new build nuclear project in the UK.
  • Advised Saudi Power Procurement Company on the asset transfer and restructuring of the power and fuel offtake arrangements in Saudi Arabia with respect to Saudi Electric Company’s assets.
  • Advised European Investment Bank on the project financing of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project, Italy/Albania/Greece
  • Advised Mubadala, Total, Oxy and Dolphin Energy on the refinancing of the Dolphin Gas Project, which spans Qatar, UAE and Oman.
  • Advised KEPCO and EWP on the project financing of a 400 MW IPP in Guam.
  • Advised the lenders including JBIC, EIB, NEXI and commercial banks on the GBD5.7bn Hitachi/John Laing led Intercity Express Rolling Stock Programme in the UK (Phases 1 and 2).
  • Advised The lenders on Lockheed Martin's Military Fixed Training Services project, UK.
  • Advised KEXIM and the commercial lenders on the project financing of the IPP3 project in East Amman, Jordan.
  • JBIC, K-EXIM and commercial banks on the Shuweihat S3 IPP in Abu Dhabi.
  • Advised Infrastructure UK (now IPA) in relation to the GBD400m bond financing of the upgrade of INEOS' Grangemouth petrochemical refinery in the UK
