Corinne McCarthy advises on construction and engineering matters in relation to large-scale commercial property developments, PPP projects (and, in the UK, PFI schemes), energy and waste projects. She was a member of our Construction team that advised on the London 2012 Olympic Games venues. Her clients include central and local government, construction and engineering companies and developers. 

Corinne's experience is not just in relation to domestic projects. She also works on projects outside the UK, with a particular emphasis in the last couple of years on EPC contracts for development projects in Africa. Her experience extends to advising banks and other lenders providing finance in relation to engineering and building projects. She has a wide experience in the use, amendment and negotiation of standard forms agreements in the construction and engineering industries as well as bespoke contracts.

  • Advising the developer on the EPC contract for the development of a power station in Zambia
  • Acting for the developer in the EPC contract aspects of a coal fired power station in Namibia
  • Acting for the developer in the EPC contract for the development of an oil storage terminal in Malaysia
  • Acting for the developer in the EPC contract for the upgrade of gas process facilities in Tanzania
  • Acting for lenders funding the development of a water desalination plant in Ghana; this has involved detailed review, comment and drafting relating to two EPC contracts, one for equipment supply, the other for construction and a separate master agreement dealing with interface issues between the two EPC contracts
  • Acting for a developer of a power project in the UK (negotiating and drafting the EPC contract and the supply contracts)
  • Acting for lenders funding a project to design, build and operate a solar panel manufacturing plant in Singapore
  • Acting for a consortium in the development of depots for a new UK high speed rail link
  • Acting for the developer of a low latency fibre optic cable network, connecting New York to London
  • Acting for a contractor on the development of quay side and ship yard in connection with an FPSO vessel in Africa
