About

Claire is an approvals specialist with a particular depth of expertise in environmental legal matters. She advises on all aspects of approvals and compliance related matters, with experience spanning both the private sector and government work, and an extensive background in the resources, renewable energy and development.

Claire assists with due diligence from all perspectives in relation to land access, tenement management and regulatory approvals and compliance. She particularly enjoys walking with clients from early project planning through to operational compliance. Claire has a particular interest in rehabilitation and the re-use of existing mine sites, particularly for renewable energy projects.

EXPERIENCE

  • An Australian renewable energy company on due diligence considerations, approval pathways and engagement with the Coordinator-General in relation to proposed acquisition of former mine site that was converted into hydro.
  • Various operators in relation to responding to investigations and various forms of environmental enforcement by local, state and federal government regulatory bodies.
  • Queensland government in various appeals to the Planning and Environment Court about developments dealing with State interests.*
  • The newly established Australian arm of a multinational conglomerate company in relation to all aspects of approvals for both the mining project and related infrastructure, including in relation to tenure, environment, land access and acquisition, water, offsets and ongoing landholder operational agreement requirements.*
