As a former software programmer, Anand Mohan leverages his technical background and computer engineering degree to advise clients on technical subject matter aspects of patent litigation and prosecution.
Anand's technical expertise is spread across multiple industries, including wireless communications, protocols, communications hardware, machine learning, blockchain technology, cloud technology, semiconductors and medical devices.
Having drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications, Anand has significant experience working with the U.S. Patent Office. He leverages this experience to help clients with pre-litigation strategies such as third-party submissions, and post-grant litigation (e.g. inter partes review) at the USPTO.
Anand also has considerable experience in international patent prosecution, particularly with the European Patent Office (EPO). He has worked with European patent attorneys on Opposition proceedings at the EPO. Anand leverages his international patent prosecution experience to build and manage a global patent portfolio of large corporations.
Anand works with startups and midsize companies to harvest patentable inventions (with a focus on 35 U.S.C. §101 issues) and advise corporate/commercial in-house counsel on issues pertaining to patent/IP law. He also maintains a substantial patent counseling practice and has provided dozens of opinions on patentability, infringement, validity and freedom to operate.
