Hwee Yong Neo is a member of our Intellectual Property and Technology practice group based in the DLA Piper office in Hong Kong. He focuses on artificial intelligence, technology, communications, outsourcing, data privacy and payment services related matters and is both qualified in Hong Kong and Malaysia.

He advises and assists domestic and international businesses and conglomerates in the technology sector on various legal, commercial and regulatory matters concerning a wide range of services, systems and technologies. This includes advising various companies on risks, challenges and recommendations relating to use of artificial intelligence services (including generative AI) in Mainland China and Hong Kong.

He also assists clients in drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements, including cross-border technology licence agreements, outsourcing agreements and data sharing agreements.

  • Advising a Chinese FinTech conglomerate on data privacy matters relating to e-wallets and mini-apps.

  • Advising one of the largest card scheme operators on the regulatory requirements for certain payment services, including data protection matters.*
  • Advising a Chinese private equity company in a cross-border semiconductor licensing and reselling transaction. Work included negotiations, drafting and reviewing relevant agreements and documents.*
