Matt Nowotny-Walsh joined DLA Piper’s Corporate team in November 2021. Matt’s broad experience encompasses capital markets, mining/resources, mining services, including advising on mergers and acquisitions (public and private), foreign investment, business analysis and strategy, pre-IPOs, IPOs, various capital raisings, risk and corporate governance.

Matt’s corporate experience has been bolstered by secondments at the Australian Securities Exchange as a listing advisor and leading ASX listed conglomerate Wesfarmers. Whilst at the ASX Matt was the listing adviser responsible for the IPO of multiple resources and biotech companies ASX listings as well numerous Chapter 11 significant transactions.

  • Strike Energy on its hostile off-market takeover bid for Warrego Energy which implied a valuation of approximately AUD450m.
  • AspenTech on its AUD900m acquisition of the Australian headquartered mining software business Micromine Group.
  • POSCO on its acquisition of Senex Energy for approximately AUD900m by way of scheme of arrangement.
  • ResApp Health on its acquisition for AUD180m by Pfizer Inc. by way of scheme of arrangement.
  • Leichhardt Industrials Group on its “top hat” restructure, the subscription for a 20% stake by the Smorgon family, and additional capitalisation from Leichardt’s existing shareholders, including RCF Opportunities Fund L.P.
  • Nickel Mines on its USD225m capital raising to fund the acquisition and construction of a nickel production facility in Indonesia.
  • Seafarms Group on a multifaceted transaction which enabled Seafarms to commence construction of a large-scale prawn farm.*
  • Hancock Prospecting on its AUD900m off market takeover bid for Riversdale Resources Limited, an unlisted public Australian incorporated coal development company focused on hard steel making coal projects in Canada.*
  • Geopacific Resources on its AUD150m equity raising to partly fund the development of its Woodlark Gold Project in Papua New Guinea by way of a two-tranche placement and a share purchase plan.*
  • Dacian Gold on its institutional placement and an accelerated pro rata non-renounceable entitlement offer to raise AUD98m under a transaction specific prospectus.*
  • Southern Cross Media Group on its institutional placement and an accelerated pro rata non-renounceable entitlement offer to raise AUD169m.*
