Michael advises clients on non-contentious construction and engineering matters, predominantly advising on development work with a particular focus on stadia & arena developments, office projects and the hotel & leisure sector.

Michael has experience in working with JCT, NEC and FIDIC suites of contract as well as having worked on projects with more bespoke forms of agreement and spent time on secondment to AECOM’s UK and EU legal team during his training contract.

EXPERIENCE

  • Wrexham AFC Limited – Racecourse Ground Stadium Expansion - lead construction lawyer on the improvement and expansion works for Wrexham AFC’s stadium, including pitch replacement and construction of the new Kop stand.
  • London office redevelopment & Hotel Refurbishment - advising a client on a £35m+ redevelopment of commercial/office space; associated debt financing and tenancies; and separately on the client's multi-million pound hotel refurbishment in London.
  • New Indoor Arena and Hotel - lead construction lawyer advising the debt facility provider in respect of the development of a £300mn indoor arena and adjacent hotel.
  • Marine Lake Events Centre - advising on the £75m Marine Lake Events Centre development in Southport, including a 1200-seater events centre and waterside attraction; in addition to advising the Council on the procurement of the refurbishment of Southport Pier.
  • Kings Cross Redevelopment - advised on the major redevelopment and financing of a site at Belgrove House, Kings Cross and the pre-let to a global pharmaceutical tenant, including input into the various pre-letting and development agreements, financing arrangements and associated reliance packages.
  • Solar EPC and O&M contracts for global technology company – advised on the drafting of bespoke terms for EPC and O&M agreements on behalf of a global technology company for use as part of a framework and applicable to multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Asset management portfolios – advice to multiple funds on all aspects of non-contentious construction across their portfolios including office refurbishment projects, sale and acquisition of properties into the funds and alterations and extensions to the assets.
