Gaëlle Sancandi is a Senior Associate in the corporate team of the Bahrain office of DLA Piper. Gaëlle assists on M&A and private equity transactions but also advises on a broad range of corporate and regulatory matters.

Over the past years, Gaëlle has focused on domestic and international corporate transactions. She developed specific experience in venture capital deals where she regularly assisted private companies as well as investors.

  • Advised a Bahraini telecommunications company on the acquisition of a majority stake in an IT and digital solutions holding company with subsidiaries in Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria and France.
  • Advised the buyer on the acquisition of a Bombardier Inc. Global 7500 aircraft registered with the Austrian Civil Aviation Authority from a Cyprus entity.
  • Advised the buyer on the USD15m acquisition of the entire issued share capital of a British Virgin Islands company owning an aircraft.
  • Advised the founding shareholder of a Dubai-based company being one of the leading professional recruitment agencies, on the sale of a majority stake (60%) to a French group of companies within the same business sector, for a total transaction value of USD11m.
  • Advised a newly set up cancer care start up on their USD6m series seed fundraising led by a European venture firm, alongside renowned tech business angels and healthcare investors.
  • Advised same new cancer care start up on their USD45m series A fundraising led by a global venture capital firm, alongside other new and existing funds and healthcare investors.
  • Advised the Europe’s leading marketplace for second-hand furniture and home decor on a USD16.3m series B primary and secondary investment from a South African-based private equity firm, joining existing American venture capital firm investor.
  • Advised a French buyer on a USD16.3m LBO acquisition of the entire share capital of a group of companies operating luxury restaurants and hospitality businesses in top-rated ski resorts. The transaction also included a prior corporate, tax and real estate structuration of the buyer’s group.
  • Advised a FinTech start up, being the leading aggregator of banking and financial data in France and a pioneer of Open Finance in Europe, on the USD26m sale, by its shareholders, of 80% of its share capital, to a French bank. The deal involved the negotiation and implementation of options mechanisms for the acquisition by the buyer, in fine, of 100% of the target’s share capital.
