Marina Soares has over 15 years of experience in asset finance, with particular emphasis on the aviation sector.

She has experience advising financiers, borrowers, aircraft and engine lessors, airlines and other operators in relation to a broad range of cross-border transactions, including PDP, loan and lease financings, aircraft portfolio migrations, sale and leasebacks, split ownership arrangements, joint ventures, and export credit and AFIC structures.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a major airline on its first AFIC JOLCO financing of 1x new B787-9 aircraft.
  • Advising Latin America's largest provider of air mobility and delivery services on several helicopter deliveries and financings with different lessors (including the Ex-Im Bank re-financing of 2x AW139s) across multiple jurisdictions (English, New York, Luxembourg, Portuguese and Brazilian laws).
  • Advising a major airline on commercial JOLCO financing of 1x new A321 NEO aircraft.
  • Advising a regional airline on multiple engine leases and financings.
  • Advising a major engine lessor on engine acquisitions, disposals and lease arrangements.*
  • Acting for an investment fund on the acquisition of a number of airframes under split ownership joint venture arrangements with engine financing companies.*
  • Acting for a low-cost airline on the U.S. ExIm-backed loan and bond financing of 2x B737 and 2x B787 aircraft.*
  • Advising an Australian commercial bank on its acquisition of a c. USD800m aircraft loan portfolio from a German bank.*
  • Advising financiers in relation to a number of corporate jet financings and disposals.*
