Tyler concentrates his practice in commercial real estate law, representing real estate funds, developers, private equity companies, joint venture partners, and financial institutions in all aspects of acquisitions and dispositions, financings, leasing, and real estate development.

Tyler's practice involves advising on transaction strategy, due diligence, financing, development and zoning approvals, and public-private development and financing arrangements and incentives.

In addition, Tyler regularly represents life insurance companies, financial institutions, developers, and institutional investors in general secured real estate financings.

Acquisition, Disposition & Development:

  • Represented institutional investor in connection with the acquisition and financing of a 190-unit apartment complex in conjunction with the formation of an open-end multifamily building investment fund
  • Represented seller-tenant in connection with the sale and leaseback of a national portfolio of industrial properties
  • Represented university in connection with the acquisition of educational facilities
  • Representing developer in connection with the development of industrial and community development facilities pursuant to redevelopment and tax increment allocation financing agreements (ongoing)
  • Representing university in connection with the entitlement and redevelopment of a historic athletic facility (ongoing)

Financing:

  • Represented developer in connection with a US$92 million construction loan to finance the development of a mixed-use property
  • Represented institutional investor in connection with construction financing for the development of a US$50 million senior housing property
  • Represented lender in connection with the restructuring of an US$832 million loan secured by a national portfolio of office properties
  • Represented lender in connection with a US$398 million loan secured by a national portfolio of industrial properties
  • Represented lender in connection with an US$80 million loan secured by a hotel property located in a vertically subdivided building

Pro Bono

Tyler’s pro bono work focuses on representing non-profits in the acquisition, disposition and development of real estate critical to their organizational objectives, including by representing a community land trust in the preservation of affordable housing in a rapidly-gentrifying neighborhood, a local non-profit in the acquisition, financing and redevelopment of an industrial facility into a workforce training center, and a charitable organizational in the sale of a school and child welfare services facility. Tyler also regularly volunteers for an organization that improves educational outcomes for children with disabilities.

Connect
