About

Bu Yin is a life sciences patent lawyer with over 13 years' experience helping companies, institutes, and investors develop global intellectual property (IP) strategies, including addressing cross-border IP issues involving China. Building on his molecular biology and immunology background, Bu strives to add value to each client's business by providing tailored IP strategies in areas such as life sciences tools, diagnostics, and therapeutics.

Bu's research and patent experiences span a wide range of fields including pharmaceuticals (particularly biologics), life sciences tools (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics), agriculture and food, and medical devices. Bu has extensive experience with antibodies, drug conjugates (e.g., ADCs), RNA therapeutics (e.g., mRNAs, trans-splicing RNAs, and siRNAs), vaccines, gene therapies (e.g., HSV, AAV, and non-viral vectors), cell therapies (e.g., CAR-T and stem cells), antibiotics, microbiomes, synthetic biology, and gene/genome editing (e.g., transgenic plants). Bu is particularly knowledgeable in immunoassays, PCRs, nucleic acid sample preparation and sequencing, analyte encoding/decoding, and multi-omics data analytics, particularly those for high-throughput, single-cell, spatial, and/or in situ analysis.

Bu is also experienced in supporting patent litigation, patent office proceedings, and transactions, including IP due diligence in connection with venture capital and private and public financing.
