Katie Zacharczuk has experience in a variety of employment law matters, both contentious and non-contentious, across a wide range of sectors, including, media, sport and entertainment, leisure and hospitality and consumer goods, food and retail.

Katie has significant litigation experience across a number of contentions such as, unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract. She has also advised on workplace management issues, including disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Katie has advised on many corporate transactions, providing practical, commercial advice and solutions for clients in relation to employment issues.

She also has experience in drafting key employment documents such as director service agreements, contracts of employment, settlement agreements and policies and procedures etc.

Katie has experience in managing large scale multi-jurisdictional advisory matters, providing effective, strategic advice across jurisdictions.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advised a large industrials client in defending a complex, multiple claimants claim for breach of contract, unfair dismissal and age discrimination.
  • Acted for a top-flight football team in defending an Arbitration relating to a debt claim (brought under Rule K of the Rules of the Football Association).
  • Advised a large life sciences client in relation to their gender pay gap reporting. This involved reviewing the company’s data and calculations to ensure compliance with government reporting guidance and assisting with drafting the audit report.
  • Acted for a well-known consumer goods client in defending a complex application for interim relief brought in the Employment Tribunal.

  • Katie completed her training contract with DLA Piper in the London office before moving to the Manchester office upon qualifying as a Solicitor in the Employment Group in 2021.

Additional Information

  • Katie regularly supports the Sutton Trust, (an educational charity that aims to improve social mobility and address educational disadvantage), through speaking at the Trust’s events and supporting with their research projects.
  • Katie leads the Head Start / Pathways to Law programme for the Manchester Office, a widening participation scheme supporting young people from backgrounds under-represented at university, in reaching their full potential.
  • Katie was part of the Lord Mayor’s Future Leaders Programme for the City of London in 2022.
