Rubén G. Fernández primarily advises clients on corporate, commercial and real estate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, project financing and development, equity and debt financing, commercial lending, structured financing, and secured transactions.

Rubén has represented investors, developers, asset managers, public and private financial institutions, and other institutional lenders in transactions involving the acquisition, conveyance, land assemblage, leasing, development, management and financing of real estate, including hospitality projects, resort and commercial developments, office buildings, retail, medical and ambulatory facilities, telecommunications sites, distressed assets and government property. He has also worked on the organization and structuring of joint ventures, operating companies, management companies and other legal entities for the ownership and operation of business ventures in a variety of industries, and in other corporate matters including corporate governance, corporate financing and other capital issues, and licensing and regulatory matters.

Another significant part of his practice includes representing investors, borrowers and financial institutions in syndicated and single lender credit facilities, asset-based lending and other collateralized financing transactions.  He has also advised investors in workouts and restructuring of commercial loans, and on the design and establishment of special purpose entities and financial structures for the acquisition of distressed assets and debt from financial institutions and other institutional investors.
