Legal Directory Interviews

What to expect

Legal directories rank law firms and lawyers based on, among other factors, their quality of service rendered for clients over the past year. This feedback is captured through email or phone interviews between the researchers and the law firms' clients.

  • The email is likely to land in your Spam/Junk folder. Please check there and add chambers.com and legal500.com to your safe senders list.
  • Researchers are in the UK.
  • DLA Piper or the lawyer(s) you work with may not be mentioned in their email.
  • The Legal 500 email may contain more than one survey and all survey links are important to complete because each is for a different area of law.

Questions are open ended. Therefore, speak specifically to your experience with the DLA Piper team. Questions to expect:

  1. What kind of work has the firm handled for/with you over the past 12 months?
  2. How do you rate their ability to handle complex and sophisticated matters?
  3. How do you rate the depth and breadth of their team?
  4. How do you rate their service levels and responsiveness?
  5. How do you rate their ability to deliver to budget and overall value for money?
  6. How do you rate their commercial awareness?
  7. If applicable, how would you rate the diversity of the teams you worked with?
  8. Has the firm worked with/for you on any matters with cross-border or international elements?
  9. At the firm who is/are the primary individual(s) you work with?
  10. Do you outsource work to alternative legal service providers (ALSP)? If so, please describe the type of work you routinely outsource.
  11. Are there any other legal organizations or legal professionals who have impressed or disappointed you this year? Please don’t hesitate to mention any organization or professional from any location worldwide.

Type of feedback most helpful for the researcher:

  • Qualitative and comparative feedback
  • Mention by name specific lawyers that you've worked with from DLA Piper.
  • Be as detailed as possible and provide specific examples of the qualities/ways DLA Piper was of service to you.

In the Chamber’s survey, a lawyer's name can be manually added if it doesn't appear in the drop-down list. This enables feedback to be given to that particular lawyer.
